Le parcours musical de Paul Anquez est ouvert : il s’initie à la musique au conservatoire de Calais où il étudie le piano classique puis le jazz, l’électro- acoustique et le chant. À Paris, il étudie la musicologie à la Sorbonne puis le jazz au Conservatoire National Supérieur (CNSMDP). Il est ensuite sélectionné pour un master européen à travers lequel il étudie au Rhythmic Music Conservatorium de Copenhague ainsi qu'au Jazz Institute Berlin.
Pianiste, Paul travaille fréquemment avec la voix. Les duos qu'il forme avec Isabel Sörling, Virginie Capizzi, ou sa contribution dans le groupe Archibald en sont quelques exemples actuels.
Il remporte plusieurs prix et concours nationaux avec ses propres formations (Versailles Jazz Festival, Concours Jazz à Vannes, Trophées du Sunside).
Arrangeur, il écrit pour une grande variété d'ensembles. Tout d'abord Osiris, son grand ensemble constitué de 13 musiciens, mais aussi des orchestres symphoniques (Metropole Orchestra, Florida Film Orchestra), bigbands (The BigBand, DK, Big band du CNSMDP), ensembles vocaux (Ego-System).
Formé à la direction d'orchestre et de chœur auprès de Nicolas Brochot, Stephen Malzew, Philippe Mazet et Didier Louis, Paul mène aussi une activité de chef de chœur auprès de différents ensembles parisiens.
Enfin Paul enseigne le piano depuis plus de dix ans et anime des stages de jazz depuis 2011 avec Virginie Capizzi.
Il a enregistré 4 Cds : Rivers (2015) et Andetag (2012) avec Isabel Sörling, Winter I avec Virginie Capizzi et Things Change avec ORIRIS (2011).

From the outset, Paul Anquez’ musical pathway has been an eclectic one, beginning with the Calais Conservatoire, where he studied classical piano, jazz, electro-acoustic music and voice. He then pursued his studies at the Musicology Department of the Sorbonne University and at the Paris Conservatoire. At the latter, he was selected for the European Jazz Master which he is currently finishing. During these two years, he spent semesters at the Rhythmic Music Conservatorium in Copenhagen and the Jazz institute Berlin.
As a pianist, Paul regularly works with singers : his duos with Isabel Sörling, Virginie Capizzi, and his membership in Archibald constitute recent examples.
With his own ensembles he has won several national awards (Versailles Jazz Festival, Jazz in Vannes Competition, Trophées du Sunside)
